rocket league has been released for three years. every summer we celebrate rocket league’s birthday, and 2018 is no exception. as there were a series of events were released in may, jun, and july. it is said that there will be a rocket league update in august. this should make the game become more playable.
i believe some of you had a great time in the previous rocket league anniversary event. such as the golden eggs, you can get some rocket league items by opening them. also, you can open the eggs without decryption or rocket league keys. golden eggs contain all 60 items from the retired rocket league crates. since the event will maintain to july 23, you can still seize the opportunity! and next, there are another huge rocket league updates planned in august. the next feature update follows the anniversary festivals and releases in july or august, it includes cross-platform friends & parties, progression 2.0, “rocket pass” and throwback(the anniversary event arena)
1.register an in-game id that is a combination of a name with a unique code, like scarab#7777
2. add friends from other platforms by entering their id into the new, in-game friends list
3. party up with your new cross-platform friends and play online!
leveling updates
removing the upper limit of 75 and re-balance the whole horizontal rise curve. levels will take a fixed amount of xp to earn instead of becoming exponentially longer as you level up.
1. you’ll be converted to a new level appropriate for how much you’ve played rocket league in your career.
2. leveling up grants you an uncommon, rare, very rare, or import item (instead of these drops being randomly-timed as they are currently)
3. you can earn new titles and banners at level 100 and beyond to show off your status
xp updates
1. as part of the leveling updates, xp is going to become online-only
2. xp will now be based on time played in matches in addition to your score.
new xp mechanics!
1.match completion bonus (for finishing games)
2.consecutive games bonus (for staying in casual lobbies)
3.party bonus (for playing with friends)
4.leaver penalty (to punish quitters in all modes)
5.double xp weekends
alongside the xp and leveling updates, a new system is also is working on to give you new ways to earn items and make progress while playing rocket league. the “rocket pass” system consists of multiple tiers of content. you increase your tier by leveling up normally and you’ll unlock new, unique content as you go. each “rocket pass” will last for a few months before it’s retired and a new pass will take its place with new content to unlock.
the “rocket pass” has both free and premium tracks so everyone has something to work for. the free track contains new cosmetic items as well as decryptors and exclusive in-game titles, while the premium track will have a flat cost to unlock. you will be able to preview premium track content before you buy the unlock to access it.
this is a new game mode, which is supposed to be played during the anniversary, but many players think it is a very nice, and they hope this gameplay mode can be retained all the time, so it might be added to the game.
this arena is based on sarpbc-style field setups, where the goals aren't built into the walls on either end. instead, they're more like hockey goals, where players can play the ball behind the goal, or use the back end as a ramp. psyonix also states that the physics on throwback will be adjusted with a little bit of a lighter ball to truly give the feel of sarpbc. throwback will be kept in a separate 'anniversary' playlist from standard arenas, meaning you won't have to deal with a different field arrangement while you're trying to play competitively.
